OBJECTIVES
The Port Authority of Seville (APS) is interested in carrying out the "Eurovía E.60.02 Guadalquivir Navigability Optimization Project" approaching it within the so-called Working with Nature philosophy, whose approach is intended to achieve objectives in an ecosystem context and identify win-win solutions (“Win-Win” strategy), instead of focusing on evaluating the consequences of a given design and minimizing its ecological damage. The foregoing requires important changes in the way of approaching the Optimization Project, which must now offer beneficial solutions both for the PHC itself and for the several administrative agencies, NGOs, companies, local associations, etc. who have interests in the area. Working with Nature prioritizes the establishment of needs and objectives and the identification of opportunities within the framework of a comprehensive understanding of the environment and always as a participatory process of the social agents involved.Within the project, the Physical Oceanography Group of the University of Malaga (GOFIMA) would collaborate focusing its work on four basic actions:
- Realisation of specific hydrodynamic and environmental scientific studies to support the drafting of the Optimization Project.
- Collaboration in the knowledge dissemination campaigns periodically carried out by APS.
- Implementation of the operational model in collaboration with institutions required.
- Participation in the Scientific-Technical Committee constituted within the scope of the Project.
